The fifth meeting and discussion of the “Winter Book Club 2026” program took place.
The fifth meeting and discussion of the “Winter Book Club 2026” program took place at the Ara Sargsyan and Hakob Kojoyan House-Museum, which was conducted by the book club’s moderator, Hripsime Voskanyan. At this meeting, the participants discussed chapter 15 of the first part of the book and chapters 1-4 of the second part.
At the beginning of the discussion, the participants noted that Keating did not personally kill Heyer, but in the book he is presented as a murderer. The murder was discussed from an ethical perspective. The question of why Keating feels peace when he realizes that he hates Roark was also discussed.
In the second part of the meeting, the participants reflected on Mallory’s shooting of Toohey and the motives for that act. The participants noted whether they would trust Ellsworth Toohey if they met him in real life.
At the end of this meeting-discussion of the “Winter Book Club 2026” program, the young people present discussed the issue of when an artist or architect consciously creates a work that they believe to be “wrong or empty” for public applause, then what is corrupted first: that work, the audience, or the “self” of the creator?
