The second meeting-discussion of the “Fall Book Club 2024” program took place, which was conducted by the guest philosopher Martin Hooss.
At this meeting, the participants discussed the fifth to eighth chapters of the book.During the discussion, the main character Kira’s relationship with Leo was touched upon. The participants described the development of that relationship and possible challenges. It was also discussed what these chapters reveal about the economic difficulties of Soviet Russia and how Rand exacerbates the ideological conflict between individualism and collectivism in these chapters.
In the second part of the discussion, the participants drew parallels with the events presented in the book and the section “The “Inexplicable Personal Alchemy”” of Ayn Rand’s “Return of The Primitive: The Anti-Industrial Revolution”.
At the end of the discussion, an active question-and-answer session took place, the participants made interesting claims.
