The “Summer Book Club 2025” program is underway
The “Summer Book Club 2025” program is underway. The fourth meeting-discussion of the program took place, which was conducted by the book club moderator Melanie Hovhannisyan.
At this meeting, the participants discussed the fifth and sixth chapters of the book, which dealt with the topics “Fact and Value” and “Philosophy and the Real World Out There”.
At the beginning of the discussion, the participants touched on the question of what justice is and what should be taken into account when evaluating someone’s behavior or action. Then, each of them mentioned whether Rand’s philosophy is an open or closed system for them, and the author’s point of view on this issue was also discussed.
In the second part of the meeting, the participants analyzed the part of the book where Peikoff tells about the letter he received from an Objectivist from South Carolina, which states that “What the listener thinks is right is right, even if it is not in fact so.”
