The fourth meeting-discussion of the “Winter Book Club 2024” program took place, which was conducted by the book club moderator Hripsime Voskanyan.
At this meeting, the participants discussed the seventh and eighth chapters of the book, which dealt with the topics “The Esthetic Vacuum of Our” and “Bootleg Romanticism”.During the discussion, the participants noted that Rand criticizes naturalism for mediocreizing heroes and replacing them with monsters. This trend in contemporary art was also discussed.
In the second part of the meeting, an interesting reflection was made on the issue that some people prefer art that focuses on depravity or failure rather than heroism and success. It was also discussed that, according to Rand, art should inspire confidence and self-affirmation, and the attendees brought examples from their own experience.
