The fourth course-discussion of the “Hello Objectivism 2024” program was held at YSU.
During the fourth course-discussion, the speaker Yeranuhi Manukyan presented to the participants “Politics. Capitalism over Collectivism” topic.
At the beginning of the course, the definitions of the main concepts were presented. It was mentioned that Capitalism is an economic system based on private property, free markets and individual initiative. Collectivism was introduced as a social or economic system that emphasizes collective ownership, centralized planning, and the subordination of individual interests to the group.
The discussion continued by talking about Ayn Rand’s arguments in favor of capitalism, including its compatibility with individual rights, freedom, and human happiness.
In the second part of the course, historical and modern examples of collectivist societies were given, and their impact on individual rights and happiness was highlighted.
