John Galt School Armenia 2022: A Journey Through Objectivism
The John Galt School Armenia 2022 program explored Ayn Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism through a series of engaging lectures, discussions, and case studies led by prominent speakers.
Key Sessions & Highlights:
📌 Ethics of Objectivism (May 25) – Irakli Iagorashvili examined Objectivist ethics, discussing its hierarchical structure: Politics → Aesthetics → Morality → Epistemology → Metaphysics.
📌 Objective View on Politics & International Relations (May 18) – Anzhela Mnatsakanyan explored Objectivism’s stance on politics, comparing it with liberalism, conservatism, and libertarianism. A case study on U.S. political leaders wrapped up the session.
📌 Selfishness & Happiness (May 11) – Gevorg Gharibyan discussed selfishness in psychology, its role in relationships, and the concept of self-worth. Participants engaged with “The Fountainhead” and personal achievement exercises.
📌 Ayn Rand in Pop Culture (May 4) – Hripsime Voskanyan linked Objectivist ideas to books, films, comics, and video games, sparking discussions on Ayn Rand’s influence in modern media.
📌 Book Reading Club – “Anthem” (April 27) – Gor Badalyan led an in-depth analysis of Ayn Rand’s “Anthem”, including character SWOT analysis and participant-led discussions.
📌 Introduction to Objectivism (April 20) – Taron Simonyan, MP and associate professor, traced the philosophical roots of Objectivism and addressed participant questions in a lively Q&A.
📌 Program Launch (April 13) – Yeva Hakobyan, JGS graduate, opened the program with a discussion on Ayn Rand’s life and the foundations of Objectivism, transitioning into values, virtues, and methodology.
Throughout the program, participants actively engaged in debates, case studies, and interactive exercises, deepening their understanding of Objectivist principles in ethics, politics, and personal development.
