The “Spring Book Club 2026”-The fifth meeting-discussion
The “Spring Book Club 2026” program is coming to an end at the Ara Sargsyan and Hakob Kojoyan House-Museum. The penultimate, fifth meeting-discussion was held within the framework of the program, which was conducted by the book club’s moderator, Tigran Martirosyan. At this meeting, the participants discussed chapters 12-15 of the book.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants addressed the question of whether society can remain truly free if the government guarantees economic security. They also discussed Rand’s assertion that life on a desert island is safer and preferable than in Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.
In the second part of the meeting, the participants mentioned whether people need the government, many of the examples also related to Armenia. At the end of the discussion, the participants, divided into two groups, presented their works. As part of the task, the groups conducted a character analysis, where the same individual lives and acts in a collectivist society in one case and an individualist society in the other.
In the near future, we are waiting for the final meeting-discussion and the final event of the program.
