The “Winter Book Club 2026” program was launched
On January 17, the “Winter Book Club 2026” program was launched at the Ara Sargsyan and Hakob Kojoyan House-Museum. Within the framework of the program, participants will read and jointly discuss Ayn Rand’s “The Fountainhead.”
Gor Badalyan, CEO of ARCA delivered a welcoming speech, wishing the participants a good course and productive discussions.
At the beginning of the discussion, the participants got to know each other and mentioned their points of interest regarding Ayn Rand and the philosophy of Objectivism.
Then, Hripsime Voskanyan, the moderator of the book club, noted that chapters 1-4 of the book will be discussed at this meeting. The question was addressed as to why Rand begins the book by describing Roark alone, naked, standing on a cliff, laughing.
In the second part of the meeting, the participants talked about the contrast between the dean and Roark. It was noted that the dean believed that architecture was collective and historical, while Roark believed it was “individual and future-oriented.” They noted which view seemed more convincing and why.The question of whether Roark’s behavior would be admirable or dangerous in real life was also discussed.
The launch of the “Winter Book Club 2026” program was successful and promising, and many interesting meetings and discussions are expected in the near future.
