The penultimate, seventh meeting-discussion of the “Fall Book Club 2025” program took place, which was held by the book club moderators Julia Abrahamyan and Gevorg Petrosyan.
At this meeting, the participants discussed the last, seventh chapter of the book, which dealt with the topic of “Johnnie Dawes”.
At the beginning of the discussion, the participants mentioned what makes Johnnie think so deeply and almost mystically, wanting one perfect moment in life, rejecting ordinary pleasures and feeling that he does not belong in this world.
Then, opinions were expressed about Kay Gonda’s claim that not preventing Johnnie’s suicide was one of her kindest deeds.
In the second part of the meeting, the participants reflected on what Kay Gonda wanted: to prove that sacrifice will ruin a person’s life, or that all people are selfish by nature.At the end of the fall book club, there is one meeting-discussion left, during which the participants will summarize the entire book.
