The second meeting-discussion of the “Summer Book Club 2025” program took place
The second meeting-discussion of the “Summer Book Club 2025” program took place, which was conducted by the book club moderator Melanie Hovhannisyan.
At this meeting, the participants discussed the second and third chapters of the book, which dealt with the topics “Maybe You’re Wrong” and “An Exercise in Philosophical Detection”.During the discussion, the participants addressed the question of what the author is hinting at when he states at the very beginning of the chapter “How do you know that you’re not in bed dreaming right now?” and how do they actually know that they exist. The attendees also mentioned whether they know irrational people and how they convince them that they are right.
In the second part of the meeting, the participants addressed the author’s idea that all movements (including political ones) are necessarily irrational.
They also discussed what slogans there are that have been used throughout history for a specific purpose.
